Don't be Hatin' on Scooters
There is an article in The Chronicle about local band The Hates, and its near 30 year history as told by frontman Christian Arnheiter. Fellow Montrosians may have, on more than one occasion, seen Arnheiter scooting down Shephard, mohawk on head, guitar on back. It's not a suprise that it came up in the article.
"There are people who want to slow down and stare at me and yell something at me, since I drive a scooter. But I try not to say anything back because if you're going to wear your hair like this, you have to accept people's reactions,"
Funny, sometimes I'm sure we all get the same reaction from cagers.

Scooter Parking in Downtown... Boise
Boise, Idaho, which I had not previously thought of as Mecca of scooternerdery, is set to create two designated downtown scooter parking locations. According to the Boise Weekly, these are spots that were previously on-street parking for a single white seperatist militia and potato transport car which will be divided up to accommodate more than one rider. The initiative is the work of local scooter rider Hillary Haymond, who complained that, previously, if more than one scoot was in a single space they were each ticketed.

Park in downtown often? I do several times a month, usually on the sidewalk or at the end of a line of cars (illegally) and haven't had a problem yet (knocks on wood). Anyone had a problem downtown?

Ride Annoucement: This Weekend! (UPDATED)
Kris and some folks in the forum suggested started a monthly "Third Sunday" ride beginning this weekend. The plan is to meetup at the West Alabama Ice House at noon and then get on the road around 1pm. This will be extra fun because the Ice House is usually a Harley hangout on the weekend - so look sharp! See you on Sunday.

Here Comes the Bride, All 2-Stroke Style
This month's 002 Magazine has a short blurb about a restored Vespa being a perfect wedding gift. I couldn't agree more. They suggest picking one up from RetroVespa, a New York company that rebuilds 60's VBBs and sells them for $4,250. Haven't heard of this firm before, but they appear to use only NOS Vespa parts and offer a 6 month guarantee on their work. An interesting alternative to the scourge of the Vietbodge restores found on eBay.

Full Disclosure: I write club reviews for 002, but was as unaware of this article as they are of my desperate scooternerdery.

Tags are out!
I finally got the Scooter Battalion tags done last week and have already been placing them on unfamiliar scoots. If you ended up here because you were tagged, welcome. I passed a handfull of them out to some folks that rode around with us on a Rad Rich organized mini-ride Saturday night. Should have some available at Scooter Smith this weekend. I'll also have some of them with me for the ride this Sunday. Ride this Sunday?! Details coming later today.

Slow Week, To Be Sure
Slow week in Houston scooter news, and with the rain I am sure I am not the only one spending more time moving in a cage than I would prefer. Meh.
